More than 50 tall ships to descend on Greenwich for festival
Royal Greenwich in London will host to an action-packed festival starting next week.

More than 50 elegant tall ships are set to descend on London's Royal Greenwich as part of the Tall Ships Regatta 2014.

Racing from Falmouth to the Isle of Wight over the next few days, the 52 vessels will then make their way to London ahead of the festival's start on the 5th of September.

This will be London's largest Tall Ship event in 25 years, finishing on the 9th September.

Members of the public will have the chance to step aboard many of the ships at the festival at a number of locations on the river.

A small fee of £3 will be charged for taking a river shuttle from Greenwich Pier to see the largest ship visiting the festival, the Dar Mlodziezy.

Meanwhile, for those who wish to stay on dry land, there are plenty of events going on across the festival for the whole family to enjoy, from fireworks displays to live music and performances.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the Royal Pageant on the 7th of September, featuring the Queen's row barge Gloriana.

The parade will take place between 11.30am and 1pm at Maritime Greenwich.
