Andrew Trujillo Design has recently developed a new concept 25m wooden motor yacht. The yacht has been designed to be produced by a cold moulding process, whereby veneers of wood are laid out at angles to each other in combination with an epoxy resin. The process is not dissimilar to that used in the making of more conventional high performance composite yachts. The obvious advantages of this method are that the result shows off the natural beauty of the wood (if using a clear gelcoat finish) and the process is arguably more environmentally friendly than those used in more conventional high performance composites or even GRP (glass reinforced plastic).The moulds used...

The completion of the 350 million euro project has been hailed as evidence of an economic bounceback in Cyprus. The plate-cutting ceremony was held recently at the Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, Italy, for the ‘Seven Seas Explorer’, the first super luxury cruise ship that Fincantieri is building for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, brand of the Prestige Cruise Holdings Group. The ceremony was attended, among others, by Kunal S.
